Cee Jay Commences ‘ZiyaSpora’ Tour

Texas-based Zimbabwean singer/rapper/producer Cee Jay lands at The Mannenberg tonight (Sat 23 May) – home from the US as part of a wider tour tagged ‘ZiyaSpora Tour’, meaning ‘diaspora and sweat from hard labour’!  The Mannenberg show sees a collaboration between Cee Jay and a hot young afro group which is emerging on the Harare music scene, Raiderz.

The Amazing Voice of John Pfumojena

If you have never heard of John Pfumojena you soon will. Either through this article or the certain-to-be-hot album that he is working on. We could introduce him by saying that he went to Prince Edward school with Sam Mtukudzi or by saying that he sometimes plays with the latter and that the two are great friends, but the best way to introduce him is by his own merits because he has enough of those to stand as his own outstanding musician.

Tongai Moyo to Headline Chimanimani Arts Festival

Sungura maestro, Tongai Moyo, leads an impressive line up of artists that will perform at this year’s Chimanimani Arts Festival at the end of this month. The organisers of the festival have confirmed that the 2009 edition will take place from May 23-24 in its traditional scenic Eastern Highlands venue.

This year’s festival promises an exciting program of music, dance, theatre, spoken word, film shows, arts, crafts and workshops.
